Description

The Crumiri of Parona: history and origin

The Crumiri di Parona, originally from Casale Monferrato, were born in 1878.

This Piedmontese speciality has a fascinating history: it is probably in memory of Victor Emmanuel II, who died that year, that crumiri took the typical shape resembling his moustache, becoming a symbol of local tradition and culture.

Unique characteristics for an unmistakable taste, a tribute to tradition

Crumiri di Parona are distinguished by their unique shape and unmistakable taste.

Their particular structure has a dense and compact texture in the central part, while the rimmed edges are characterised by a distinctive crumbliness, thanks to an exclusive short crust pastry, creating a combination of textures that makes these biscuits irresistible.

They are the result of a recipe handed down from generation to generation, jealously guarded by Piedmontese confectioners.

These biscuits are a tribute to the Italian and Piedmontese pastry tradition, representing not just a dessert, but a piece of history. Every bite of Crumiri di Parona is a journey through time, a reminder of the cultural and culinary richness of Piedmont.

Perfect for every occasion

Crumiri di Parona are suitable for every occasion: from a simple morning breakfast to an elegant dessert at the end of a meal. Their versatility makes them perfect to enjoy on their own or accompanied by drinks such as coffee and tea.

Crumiri di Parona with a cup of chocolate: sublimation!

You can use Crumiri di Parona by experimenting with combining them with hot chocolate in creative and delicious ways. Here are some ideas for making the most of this combination:

  • Dipping Crumiri di Parona in chocolate: a classic way to enjoy Crumiri di Parona is to dip them in hot chocolate. Their crumbly texture perfectly absorbs the chocolate, creating a balance of flavours and textures.
  • Crumbled Crumiri as a topping: crumble Crumiri and use them as a topping on hot chocolate. This adds a pleasant crunch and buttery flavour that goes well with the sweetness of the chocolate.
  • Crumiri di Parona next to the cup: serve whole Crumiri next to a cup of hot chocolate as an elegant accompaniment. This allows your guests to choose how and when they enjoy the biscuit with their drink.
  • Spoon dessert with Crumiri layers: create a spoon dessert by alternating layers of slightly cooled hot chocolate and crumbled Crumiri di Parona. Leave to rest for a few minutes to allow the biscuits to partially absorb the chocolate.
  • Chocolate fondue with Crumiri di Parona: use the hot chocolate as a base for a fondue and offer Crumiri di Parona for dipping. This is a fun and interactive way to enjoy biscuits, especially in company.
  • Crumiri as edible spoons: use Crumiri di Parona as edible spoons for hot chocolate. After enjoying the drink, the biscuit will have absorbed some of the chocolate, making for a delicious finish.
  • Tiramisu with Crumiri di Parona and chocolate: experiment with a variation of the classic tiramisu, using Crumiri soaked in hot chocolate instead of ladyfingers and layering them with mascarpone and cocoa.
  • Mini trifle with Crumiri and chocolate: make mini trifles by alternating layers of crumbled Crumiri, thick hot chocolate and whipped cream. This layered dessert is visually appealing and delicious.
